The Adventures of the Young

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, By: Mark Twain
Pages 1-70

Do the characters seem real and believable? Can you relate to their predicaments? To what extent do they remind you of yourself or someone you know?

This book is reminding me so much of my childhood. Huck and Tom are as real as the 20th century, always getting into trouble and not taking the blame for it. Of course, saying you won't do something again and you do it anyway. Also, before Tom finds out what true love is, the first girl he lays eyes on is his "love". So many people do this now a days, even teenagers. Sometimes peoples actions and imagination are driven by something they see or read, which is the case when Huck and Tom "play" Robin Hood. I wonder if these experiences pave the way for Tom and Huck to "grow up"?

Good question. Having read Huckleberry Finn, I'd argue that Huck does but Tom doesn't. It's a great book...you should check it out.

THESE CHARACTERS DO SOUND AS IF THEY ARE IN THE 2OTH CENTURY, BUT YEA I THINK THAT THEIR MISTAKES AND EXPERIENCES WILL HELP THEM AS A PERSON. IT WILL MAKE THEM MORE MATURE LOOKING BACK ON THEIR PAST AND SEEING HOW CHIDISH THEY WERE.
